ABOUT US
Future Earth Lab is an NGO with innovation at its heart. It aims to test, demonstrate and scale new solutions to big sustainability challenges - such as how to finance improved industrial and agricultural practices, how to facilitate the shift to renewable energy, and how to provide high quality technical analysis and data for policymakers, citizens and the private sector.
History shows that often the best innovations aren’t found within the biggest institutions, and it is clear that our current environmental transformation is still too slow. Our mission is to be more agile than the big institutions, to challenge and disrupt accepted paradigms and thinking, and be transparent about the realities of the progress needed and the progress that we make - all the time following where the data leads us. To be fact-driven and determined in finding, creating, and scaling solutions. To understand how change can be scaled through the world’s systems - ecological, economic, regulatory, or human. To understand the tensions, barriers, tradeoffs in those systems, and find the pressure points that will allow for rapid shifts and improvements.
To make change a reality, we need targeted, communal, multi-actor solutions - that include politicians, business, and communities. We need to move beyond reliance on our current institutions and ways of working, to rapidly test solutions - and to do this in collaboration with a broad coalition of partners and stakeholders to truly understand and reshape the systems we all work within. This balancing act - between embracing the new and working with existing systems - is at the heart of how we will build a truly sustainable future. We will use our technical knowledge and experience to keep this balancing act and to experiment transparently to create the solutions of the future.
